Early Wednesday morning I woke up and couldn't sleep I came down stairs checked my mail unloaded the dishwasher. Around 1:26 am I felt my first contraction. Two minutes later I had another one. I went upstairs to awake Russ and ask him if he could stay up with me so we could see if I was in labor. We walked out of our bedroom got to the top of the steps and I had another contraction. Russ's reply was " And your not sure It's time" he could tell from my breathing it was the real deal, we went downstairs he called our friend Tracy called his Mom, she was staying at a hotel. My contractions were coming every 2 minutes and lasting a minute long. Russ started the water in the pool, told me we needed to call our midwife. She lives 20-25 minutes away. We woke up our children. I went up to our bathroom and jumped in the shower. At this point it was close to 2 am I could feel our baby pushing his/her way down and was feeling a lot of pressure. I heard car doors. Tracy arrived first with her two girls, she came upstairs to check on me. MIL and her husband arrived next. I came downstairs and ordered Jim/ MIL husband to run to the store. Russ was worried the pool wouldn't be filled in time. I was walking the hallway with Russ stopping with every contraction. Midwife arrived @ 2:25 she brought in the rest of her supplies to the family room were I thought I would be giving birth. I was at the point were I really couldn't walk but needed to go to the bathroom. As I was holding onto the wall Russ helped me make my way to our bathroom on the first floor. Jim arrives back from the store. I told Russ I couldn't stand anymore that I really felt that the baby was making his/her way out. The pool was cold and not anywhere ready for me to give birth in. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it up the steps. The closet room was our sitting room. So with my husbands help I made my way to the middle of the floor. Midwife checks me and I'm 10 and complete. With the help of others she brought all my supplies and her supplies to were I was in the sitting room I didn't want to move so they placed sheets and blankets on the floor. Moved the camcorder over and I was told when I felt the need to push I could. Tracy was behind me with a wet wash rag telling me how wonderful I was doing and how proud she was of me. Russ was aside of me holding my hand Midwife was rubbing my leg. As I looked around I felt truly blessed with a houseful of family and friends. My body was doing what it should be and I wasn't even pushing I could feel my child move down on his/her terms. My bag of water still didn't break. I gave everyone instructions on not yelling or saying what I had when the baby was born I wanted to be the first to look and announce to the room. It was around 3:15 I was complete for sometime. I reached down and could feel my baby's head then felt warm and wet my bag of water broke when the head crowed and got Russ completely wet. It was time for me to push I yelled out burn/fire. Abbi says where is the fire Mom and started looking around the room. I pushed the head and shoulders out and reached down and lifted the newest member of our family onto my chest. At 3:20 am Wednesday February 6, 2008 I gave birth to a healthy baby boy 7 lbs 14 oz 20.5 in long.
